Forum 11, the Global Forum for Health Research annual meeting took place from 29th October to 2nd November 2007 in Beijing, China. Forum 11 focused on health research relevant to the overarching theme of 'Equitable Access: Research Challenges for Health in Developing Countries'. Papers addressing these areas from a national, sub-national and regional perspective were presented at the meeting. Three GHIN members participated in the meeting: Carlos Caceres from Peru presented a paper 'Centres, peripheries academic colonization and "national science"' and Ruairi Brugha presented a paper 'Lessons from 15 countries: Global HIV/AIDS Initiatives Research Network'. Neil Spicer presented a poster 'The effects of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria on equitable access to HIV/AIDS services at the sub-national level: Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan'. He also facilitated a table discussion focussing on research agendas on the country effects of global HIV/AIDS initiatives.
