Effects of GFATM on Georgia’s Health System Development

Study Aim

The study aims to evaluate the impact of the Global Fund on the country’s health system with a number of key areas of focus: policy processes; the work of public and private organisations; human resources; pharmaceutical and commodity supply systems; HIV/AIDS high-risk groups and TB patients’ access to services and their experiences of stigma.

Themes

Themes include the effects of the Global Fund on:

  • The impact of the Global Fund on Georgia’s health system on policy processes including human resources and pharmaceutical/ commodity supply systems
  • Issues of alignment with country health systems, national and sub-national coordination between government agencies and NGOs
  • HIV/AIDS high-risk groups and TB patients’ access to services and their experiences of stigma
  • The work is built on a baseline study conducted in 2004 using an adapted SWEF network study protocol
