Criteria for Inclusion of a Study in the GHI Database
The criteria used for inclusion of data in the database are:
- Reports and papers must provide data about one or more of GHIN’s key research themes as it relates to one or more of the three HIV/AIDS GHIs: Global Fund, PEPFAR or World Bank MAP.
- The data are ‘original’. This might take the form of (i) primary qualitative or quantitative research findings; (ii) independent or external evaluations of one or more of the GHIs; or (iii) secondary analyses of data (for example, Global Fund grant reports) that present new findings or knowledge. The database does not include broad overviews of secondary material, internal evaluations, or ‘grey’ literature (for example, media or journal ‘comments’).
- There must be some outline of methods, i.e. some explanation of how data were collected and analysed and how findings were derived.
- Sources include: reports located on other websites, some reports only located on this sites; and journal articles. NOTE: many journals require registration and user names and passwords to access articles on-line.
Document summaries
A feature of the database is a ‘document summary’ page for each entry in the database. This provides a 250 word (approx) summary of the type of study, aims, methods, findings, and recommendations/conclusions of the document. There is a full web address and, where available, a link to a pdf for each document.
Further information can be obtained from Aisling Walsh aislingwalsh@rcsi.ie or from Neil Spicer, neil.spicer@lshtm.ac.uk or from any of the individual country researchers.
